The territorial development of Piemonte

Recent studies reveal that in Piemonte the recession is giving way to a possible recovery. Where the banks are concerned, there has been less demand for credit from businesses, particularly related to investment. The tension in credit supply conditions is easing and interest rates on business loans are also falling, thanks to the reduction in the sovereign risk in the first months of this year.
In order to meet the demands of businesses, ABI presented a new moratorium that envisaged the suspension of interest rate payments an extension of loans and the promotion of initiatives designed to foster the development and recovery of activities. This initiativeI the only one of its kind in Europe, has so far made it possible to free up more than Euro 15 billion of liquid assets to companies.
At a regional level numerous initiatives are currently being implemented or have already been put in place by the ABI Commission for Piemonte in collaboration with local institutions to foster the development of Piedmontese firms. They include: the reinstatement of the Temporary Guarantee Fund for Large BusinessesI the creation of the Pilot Committee for Public-Private Partnership to encourage investment by local authorities through innovative finance operations and the Protocol Agreement with Unioncamere and Finpiemonte to make it easier for small and medium enterprises to participate in international fairs.
We hope that these initiatives can help to guide our Region out of the crisis and to establish it firmly once again as an industrial centre of national and international importance.

Antonio Nucci
President of the ABI regional Commission for Piemonte
