HIGHLIGHTS FROM EUROPE

Unioncamere Piemonte has a representative office in Brussels whose aim is facilitating the participation to the EU affairs.

European Council adopts Conclusions
The European Council faced on the 17 June numerous discussions on a wide range of issues. The key issues included the adoption of the Europe 2020 strategy, financial regulation, the G20 meeting in Toronto and climate change. Focal in the meeting's discussion was the Europe 2020 strategy for jobs and growth which aims to help Europe recover from the crisis and come out stronger, both internally and at the international level, by boosting competitiveness, productivity, growth potential, social cohesion and economic convergence. The new strategy responds to the challenge of reorienting policies away from crisis management towards the introduction of medium- to longerterm reforms that promote growth and employment and ensure the sustainability of public finances. The Council called for Member States to ensure fiscal sustainability and consolidation to help achieve the Europe 2020 goals and welcomed the Monti report on the single market.

New aeronautical centre for industrial research at the Torino-Aeritalia airport of Collegno
The "Torino Aeritalia" airport of Collegno opens the new aeronautical centre for industrial research and advanced training. The initiative is part of the partnership agreement between the Politecnico di Torino and Aero Club Torino and starts out with the aim of offering innovative companies that operate in the aerospace sector the possibility of locating operating units directly in the "Torino Aeritalia" airport of Collegno to run research, development and experimentation activities directly linked to flight. In addition to research, the centre's development plan also envisages training activities that will begin with a programme to bring closer together the academic aeronautical world and that of flying schools. The "Young Flyers" project will enable the students of Aeronautical Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino and secondary school pupils to frequent the facilities of the Aero Club Torino with operational purposes and opportunities for both technical and management aeronautical training.
